Welcome to the fantastical world of Nancy Moody King – where whimsy, light and color whirl together in artistic rhythm, dancing across the sky.
Artist Nancy Moody King spends her days slinging paint in an old Nahunta, Georgia warehouse, weaving vibrant hues and fancy together into stunning pieces of art.
Using a unique painting technique on upcycled mirrors, bright oil paints are swirled between layers of clear enamel, creating an unusual depth of color. Light bouncing off of the mirrored bases moves the artful pieces in a rhythm all their own. While evolving, air bubbles and cracks develop, enhancing every painting's dimensional quality. Colors emerge and subside when paintings are viewed in various lights and from different angles, adding an element of "art fantastical."
Thrilled by the creation process as much as the finished products, Nancy loves "the feel of the process – smooth on the glass surface – the combination of oil paints and enamels fusing together with surprising results."
With fans blowing to keep the subtropical heat and biting bugs at bay, and wearing a protective breathing mask to combat fumes, Nancy's creative process is as much a part of each painting as is the paint.
Come explore this artful world where color and light tango in a fanciful union.
